TRAIN 411                     the latest and greatest

Greetings!

Our current warm spell is motivating me to happily dig deep in my closet and take stock of my sexy bare-it-all LA clothes and peeky toe platforms.  Most of all, the radiant sunshine and 80 degree weather is propelling me to hit the gym hard!  Just because I spend 98% of my time here doesn't mean I'm constantly working out.  Au contraire!  Have you heard of the cobbler's children?

Mercifully, we've added new SPIN classes especially morning ones that can rid me of my guilt for the rest of the day.  Gordon Duvall, our go-to-guy for last minute subs has taken on the 7am Tuesday and Thursday classes and cute-as-a-button, trainer Irina Runier is introducing her brand of high energy at 8am also on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  If this interferes with your pilates on those days, try Fernando Gaviria on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8am.  Yes, the Latin hunk of amor is back!  I believe he also strips and takes his shirt off during his wild rides.  Hmmm.   Of course, there's always Jeff Daly who is just so lovable at 9am on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  Mark Morris is also leading TGIF Happy Hour with a 6pm Friday SPIN class.  Just think that spin class gives you allowance for that extra spritzer or sprinkles cupcake! Ssshhh!  Don't tell our trainers!

So many to choose from.  Heck!  Just check the schedule and come.  Do you really look lean andmadonna Madonna-ish enough to wear that muscle T or sleeveless frock??  She's looking hot, hot, hot and so should you, you, you!

Yes we can, as Obama says.  It's never too late to take care of our bodies and look and feel our best so we can be at our preeminent selves.  Read on for more tidbits on exercise and diet.  Feel the love!

With fondness and affection to all of our friends and clients this Valentines Day from all of us at TRAIN.

digital  tv promo opportunity!

digital tvIf you work out at the main gym, I'm sure you've noticed the new plasma screen atop the shelving area behind the front desk.  As a member of the Health Club Panel Network, we are privy to their myriad marketing tools such as the now ubiquitous digital TV passing on the latest on news, weather, sports (and Britney!)  Currently, in addition to the bottom news crawl, it is streaming wondrous nature scenes such as dolphins gamboling in the surf and amazing jets in flight.  It sure makes those chest cable crossovers a tad more bearable!  Michael Enright, trainer, remarked how the simple splash of color and changing graphics adds positive energy to the gym.  Take a gander!

The groovy part is, we are now also able to broadcast local advertising spots which will get about a total of 8 minutes per hour of air time.  Being a savvy businessperson that you are, you can realize that this could be a great way for you to get your message out to TRAIN's high-end and diverse clientele.  If you are interested, please contact me directly at:  mylene@trainwesthollywood.com for further information.

7 Tips to Weight Loss
By Michael O'Shea, PARADE Magazine

1. Buy a Scale
To change your body, you need to know where you stand. Place your scale on a flat, uncarpeted surface and weigh yourself at the same time every day. (First thing in the morning is best.)

2. Clean out Your Cupboards
Toss all those naughty little goodies that might prove too tempting when you're tired or hungry. Or put them at the back of the cupboard or refrigerator so you won't be faced with them every time you open the door.

3. Keep a Journal
Write down your weight each day, plus everything you eat. You're the only one who has to see this-so be honest. Estimate the calories of each entry as you write it down. (Buy a book of calorie counts.)

4. Tell Everyone
Sit your family down and tell them your goals. Be clear that losing weight is important to you and that you would appreciate their support. A weight-loss buddy also can improve your chances of success.

5. Eat Several Small Meals a Day
It's natural to be a little hungry during the first few days of any diet. Remind yourself that it is just a physical sensation, and you can handle it. Still, any diet that leaves you hungry all the time will lead to overeating.

6. Give Yourself Treats
If you deprive yourself endlessly, you'll end up going on a world-class binge at some point. Consider adding a treat to your daily or weekly plan, but pay attention to portion size and calorie count.

7. Start an Exercise Plan
Besides burning calories, exercise also builds muscle and boosts your metabolism as you progress. One of the best things you can do is walk. Invest in a pedometer and aim for a goal of 10,000 steps or more a day.

REAL ESTATE UPDATE
For the first time ever, it's now possible to buy a million dollar house with a 20% down payment using a conforming loan!!!  The biggest winners in the economic rescue plan that passed the U.S. Congress on Thursday and awaits President Bush's signature are middle- to upper-income Americans who can refinance their jumbo home loans at cheaper rates.

The stimulus package temporarily raises the maximum size of mortgages that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac can purchase and market as securities from $417,000 to as high as $729,750 in expensive parts of the country like New York City and California.

It makes a similar change for loans backed by the Federal Housing Administration, which insures loans to borrowers with weak credit.

Right now, borrowers in expensive areas are "really stuck between a rock and a hard place," says Mark Vitner, senior economist with Wachovia Corp. Raising the caps, he says, will result in a refinancing boom for those properties.

"We're more likely to see an immediate improvement at the upper end than we are at the lower end" of the housing market, he says.
